Other Factors Contributing to Mental Ill Health

Other factors that can possibly contribute to dementia and Azheimer's disease, autism, ADHD, bi-polar disease and perhaps, schizophrenia, are dietary insults, such as gluten and sugar. Whether these actually lead to these unfortunate diseases is less doubtful than was so a number of years ago.  The link between excessive sugar and diabetes has been proven scientifically.  In fact, Alzheimer's is now called Diabetes Type III.  Both  of our families were addicted to sugar.  Betsy believes that sugar and poor diet were factors leading to her mother's paranoia and also her dementia which led her to consider her children to be her enemies, and that everyone was stealing from her. She was also taking numerous prescription drugs that possibly made her unstable physically, emotionally and mentally.
We are not doctors or experts, but we read a lot and we are very observant.  We have had to deal with mental health issues in our own lives so we have become very aware of recent theories related to various contributing factors leading to mental health conditions.  John Gray, a well-published author of over 20 books, including his best-selling Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, provides advice on what to avoid in our diets, lifestyles, and environmental causes that inhibit our natural ability to heal and be healthy.  Here is a link to John Gray's website for more information on these topics:

We both find Ocean  Robbins to be informative and helpful, especially when it comes to the quality of our food.  He is adamant about the dangers of GMO foods and environmental toxins which are everywhere in our country and probably around the world.  Most of the foods that are available for our use are not tested sufficiently by the FDA and the foods that are imported from other countries are tainted with neuro-toxins and chemicals. They are transported such long distances that they are harvested before becoming ripe, and are treated with chemicals when  transported long distances.  Ocean Robbins is hosting a free summit starting on April 28, 2 018. Here is a link if you are interested and would like to know more about it;

We hope you find these two links helpful if you know of someone suffering from some of these problems, or if you yourself suffer in this manner.  In a couple of weeks we will do another blog, this time addressing my father's suicide, which affects a large percentage of our country's population and causes the deaths of many of our veterans who sometimes also suffer from PTSD.  We  hope you tune into our next blog.
